Frances Townsend And The Various Positions She's Held Before And During Activision Blizzard

Frances F. Townsend has held a variety of positions throughout her career. She was the US Coast Guard’s first Assistant Commandant for Intelligence. Ms. Townsend has worked on homeland security and counterterrorism issues for three past presidents: George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. From May 2004 to January 2008, she was also the head of the US Homeland Security Council. Ms. Townsend spent 13 years in the Department of Justice, where she held many top roles in the criminal justice system, besides her service with the Coast Guard.

Today, Frances Townsend is Activision Blizzard’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs. Since December 2020, she has worked with the interactive gaming and entertainment company. She previously worked for MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated. From October 2010 to December 2020, she worked for a diversified holding firm. She held the positions of Vice-Chairperson, General Counsel, and Chief Administrative Officer throughout her career with the corporation. Before joining MacAndrews & Forbes, Ms. Townsend was a partner at Baker Botts LLP. She was with the law firm for over a year.

She is also a member of the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations’ board of directors. Ms. Townsend has served on the boards of directors of several other businesses in the last five years.
