Love the song. Love the video concept. Love the honesty. But I’m REALLY feelin’ the coat and the shoes! I’m such a Solange style-stan.

I’m liking Heavy D’s new video for “Long Distance Girlfriend”. The reggae thing is nice, and it’s good to see “The Overweight Lover’s in the House” again - especially since he brought my favorite actress (and the flyest chick in the game),Nia Long, along for the ride.
Check out Brown Sista for stills from the video shoot.
Brandy performs her old hits for fans during a Philly listening session. B-Rocka is really doing her thing here. I love how she seems to really enjoy interacting with the fans. At the 4:21 mark Brandy sings my jam - “I Wanna Be Down”.

The Floater’s “Float On” has got to be THE worst love song to come out of the D, but for some reason, the women loved these boys. I remember telling my friend Cheryl “the day The Floaters appear on Soul Train will be the day I purchase “Float On”, because there was just no way that would happen.
I’ll be damned if The Floaters didn’t actually perform that song on Soul Train. And the song even had the nerve to go platinum. Who knew?
Even funnier - My work buddy KC knows ALL the old jams, which I found interesting since he’s just barely 30 yrs. old. Per KC - his father listened to all the old jams, and it just rubbed off on him. Then he tells me his dad is Charles. As in “Libra - and my name is Charles“. Check KC’s daddy out at the 1 minute mark.
Come to think of it - my cousin used to date one of these guys. I think it was Paul.
Earlier today I read what Detroit’s #1 alternative newspaper - The Metro Times - had to say about D-town rapper Black Milk in their article on movers and shakers in the Detroit cultural scene.
Then this evening I came across the video for “Give The Drummer Sum” on my favorite local Hip-Hop site - MichiganHipHop.com. Coincidence? I think not. More like perfect timing.
I’m a nerd. I admit it.
“The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice” premieres December 7, on TNT. I’ll be watching.
The video for Case’s “Lovely” is just full of beautiful Black women whom he finds “Lovely”. Sistas everywhere appreciate the compliment, Case.
For those old enough to remember, Seal’s cover of Otis Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” is a welcome reminder of the sweet Soul music you used to listen to on the transistor radio. Props to SoulBounce for the video.
Ask, and you shall receive! Just yesterday I said I’d like to see Beyonce’s real personality, and then she pops up on Oprah being her own damn fabulous self. Gotta give Beyonce her props on this one - she’s really having fun. Girlfriend even admits to bringing Sasha Fierce home to Jay Z every now and then. I still don’t think Sasha is all that, but Miss Beyonce is kinda fierce…
Britney Spears joined Madonna onstage for the Los Angeles leg of Madonna’s “Sweet & Sticky” tour to perform “Human Nation”.
