Fantasia’s Looking Good!

Fantasia attended last week’s “An Evening With the Stars Tribute to Patti Labelle” looking like the beautiful young lady that she is.  Loving that ‘Tasia’s back to that super-short haircut. No one - not even Nia Long - can rock short hair like this chick!

I have a confession to make…

I didn’t watch more than 15-20 minutes of Sunday’s VMA Awards - I was kinda bored.

It’s nothing against the 2008 VMA Awards -  award show performances just don’t hold my attention. I can only recall being excited about two award show performances in recent years. The first was when Stephen Marley and The Fugees covered Bob Marley’s classic “No Woman, No Cry” at the Grammy Awards years ago. The most recent was Maxwell’s performance of “Simply Beautiful” during the Al Green tribute at the 2008 BET Awards show - I still watch that clip to this day. I did watch the performance videos on various blogs, though. And I recorded the show on my DVR - I’ll probably watch it this weekend.

I missed Britney opening the show, but I caught her acceptance speech for her first Moonman of the night - Britney Spears looked gorgeous! I’m really impressed by her progress over the last year. Keep up the good work, Brit - I’m pulling for you.

Rihanna was hot at the 2008 VMA’s

Both Rihanna’s performances and outfits were hot, and IMO, the highlight of  T.I.’s performance of “Live Your Life”, his new duet with Rihanna - (besides the song, which I love) - was Rihanna. Her swagger during that performance was just ridiculous. Go on, girl!

Kwame speaks…

Kwame Kilpatrick showed his true strengths tonight by giving a very classy, very polished exit speech - speaking on his childhood mayoral dreams, and the duties of a public servant.

In this speech he gives us a glimpse of the potential Detroiters once saw in our new, young mayor. He was honest about his mistakes, apologetic, and encouraging to the citizens of Detroit in our efforts to move forward. THIS is the Kwame Kilpatrick I’ll miss - a charming, charismatic leader.  Kwame was brilliant! …until he attacked Gov. Granholm.

But he recovers quickly, offers his hand to the incoming mayor - Kenneth Cockrel, Jr., and touches on his many accomplishments during his mayoral tenure.

Nice job, Kwame. I just wish this speech could be your legacy.

T.I. performs at the 2008 Bumbershoot Festival

Sexy n*gga Rapper T.I. performed at the 2008 Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival in Seattle, which took place over the Labor Day weekend.  Bumbershoot - Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival is now in its 38th year. Since 1971, Bumbershoot has drawn artists representing the best in music, film, comedy, spoken word, dance, theatre, performance, and visual arts to the Seattle Center over Labor Day weekend. North America’s largest urban arts festival, Bumbershoot takes place in the heart of the city at the 74-acre Seattle Center.

I don’t usually ♥ the T.I.P. swag (I’m more a fan of the T.I swag), but I gotta admit Tip is rockin’ all his sexy in the cap, glasses, and AKOO hoodie. Check out more pics after the jump…
