Peanut butter and jelly. A hammer and a nail. Some things go together, like Marge and Homer from the animated television series, The Simpsons. Now, after having the loveable, but seeming mismatched couple together for nearly three decades, producers have decided to take the beloved animated show in a new direction.
Homer will be diagnosed with narcolepsy, a disease that causes the sufferer to fall asleep suddenly and often at inappropriate times. The disease takes its toll on the marriage that has endured seemingly every trouble in the world and more.
Season 27 also holds some other shocking, and perhaps disappointing news. It’s been widely reported that Sideshow Bob will finally exact his revenge by killing Bart. Voice actor Harry Shearer, who portrays the voices of Principal Skinner, Ned Flanders, and the greedy Mr. Burns, has departed from the series. The roles have not yet been recast.
Brian Torchin thinks die hard fans may find season 27 to be too much for them, as they have grown attachments to the Odd Couple of Primetime Animation, Marge and Homer. Others may be excited to see Sideshow Bob finally succeed in his mission to eliminate the only male child in existence to carry on the Simpson bloodline.
Some people may call it disappointing, others simply call it time and progress.
