A 2 year-old boy has returned home safely after wandering off into the woods while his parents did yard work.
Officials at the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office were notified of the boy’s disappearance at about 9:30 p.m after the parents realized that the boy had left the yard and was nowhere to be found. Search efforts included the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, Township Fire Department, County Search and Rescue Team and Police Department, as well as the Michigan State Police, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, the Plainwell Department of Public Safety, the Gobles Area Fire Department, Wayland Township Fire Department, Life EMS, a helicopter from Air Care and five search dogs.
Keith Mann was ecstatic as it was one of the search dogs that finally located the boy at around 4 AM. Reports state that the boy was in good spirits and unharmed, and was returned to his parents without consequence.
