Charlamagne Tha God vs. Lil’ Wayne

This week Lil’ Wayne dropped his highly anticipated Tha Carter V. The 23-track work is the 12th studio album from Wayne and features artists such as Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, and Snoop Dogg. While critics aren’t claiming this to be one of his best nor could it possibly be expected to out compete Wayne’s golden years it was received well in the media.

The Louisiana rapper many consider to be one of the GOATs of hip-hop put in over a decade of work into the album which after many delays and a lawsuit against former manager Birdman was finally released. Many expected after all these years that the album should be an instant classic to go along with Wayne’s extensive discography of hits ranging from the early 2000s to present. One commentator was not impressed.

On an episode of The Breakfast Club, radio and TV personality Charlamagne Tha God let it know he wasn’t feeling Wayne’s latest attempt to get back in the game. Charlamagne who got his start in the South Carolina radio scene after seeing his fair-share of time locked-up openly mocked Wayne’s work with Travis Scott.

Since the comments Charlamagne has taken the time to give Tha Carter V a full listen to and has retracted some of his comments but still stating, “It’s definitely not wack like some of y’all are saying and it’s definitely not album of the year like some of y’all saying but it’s Good.” Although I think many critics will agree Wayne was never expected to out-do the first three installments of the Carter albums.

While the album has it’s good and bad moments so has Wayne. Not including his legal issues with Birdman, the artist has struggled with his health and has come out publicly with his epilepsy diagnosis. Regardless, everyone in the rap community is excited to see Wayne back. View More Information Here.
